Coventry Haven is just that – a haven. For women and children who have been living with fear and violence in their own homes.
An increase in referrals
In just the last year they have seen a 40% increase in referrals for the service over the same period last year, since the first lockdown lifted. So it is even more important that they are there to provide the best quality support that they can as the number of women and children needing support and help continues to increase.
Why Coventry Haven?
Why did I decide to sponsor them with a donation this year? Because I needed help for someone in my family. Someone who lived and still lives in a relationship with someone who is manipulative and controlling. I called the Domestic Violence Helpline on several occasions and they listened, advised and reassured.
But resources in this area are scarce and just not enough. If women and children are to be helped, protected, and given the chance to rebuild their lives then we all must think about how we can help. For me, this was important so that this amazing charity can continue to give their help to those that need it.
It is a cause close to my heart and one that I believe can make a massive and lasting difference to the lives of women and children. Being able to provide this safe and supportive space for them can reduce their risk of harm considerably.
It would of course be a day to celebrate when this organisation was no longer needed, but sadly they are. Now even more than ever.
…it is even more important that we are here to provide the best quality support that we can. We are only able to achieve this because of the kindness of people like you and your teamJaime Richards, Development and Funding Officer, Coventry Haven
