Emma volunteers on the board of the MPI UK & Ireland Chapter and worked with fellow Board Members, Ruth Robinson and Leo Platt on this event community project.
With a free exhibition stand at the Venue + Events Live in Manchester in October 2019, they set themselves the challenge of creating an engaging sustainable stand and a £50 budget! They decided to ask exhibition visitors to make a pledge to change one thing to become more sustainable. Ruth, passionate about the environment, and an avid bee keeper had her homemade honey to try; a hive for people to see and her suit to try on. They spoke to people about their work and home lives, gave great advice and top tips for making a difference and encouraged them to make their pledge. And with a stand wrapped in brown paper, they gave visitors a Sharpie and asked them to write their pledge on the wall. It was a huge hit and actually had more footfall and engagement than many other stands at the show.
Straight after the exhibition, Emma organised and hosted a Sustainability Workshop. Guest Speakers including Simply Sustainable Nicola Stopps and Kayleigh Lee-Simion from Positive Impact Events who helped us understand how we can begin to reverse our actions.
