The foodbank is doing a great job. However, they continuously need support. That’s why I decided to donate my ‘giving back’ profit-share to them.
Times are hard for everyone at the moment with the increasing cost of essentials like food, heating, rent and bills. Stratford-upon-Avon Foodbank‘s team of compassionate volunteers put together at least three days’ worth of nutritionally balanced emergency food to give out to those in need. But the foodbank isn’t just about collecting donations and giving out food parcels. They’re so much more. They show people how to get help; where there are free children’s activities in the community or where children can eat for free during half terms and holidays. They even keep people toasty warm in hubs during winter.
Our food bank network helps people break free from poverty by providing additional support to help people resolve the crises they’re facing so that they don’t need to use a food bank again in the future. This could include things like debt advice, mental health support, or benefits guidance.
The Trussell Trust is campaigning for action – ‘to stop UK hunger’. Together, they’re collaborating to make a change. Strategic plans are being worked on with other food banks towards a future where emergency food isn’t needed.
One day I’d like food banks to be a thing of the past, but for now the local food banks and Trussell Trust and doing a wonderful job at looking after those in need.
