Bardsley House has always helped young people – including me. When I was 15 it was my Friday night local youth club. A cool place where I could meet friends, listen to music and just be with people my own age. It was safe and under the watchful eye of our great youth workers.
Now Bardsley House has evolved to meet the enormous challenge of growing youth homelessness in Coventry and is now known as Bardsley Youth Project. The young people it now helps are amongst the most vulnerable in the city. A lack of adult support is common. This leads to chaotic lifestyles and serial homelessness. For some young people Bardsley Youth Project is the only place they regard as ‘home’. The only place they feel part of, loved and cared for.
It is important to me that I can support, in some small way, the organisation that helped me all those years ago. It feels right to support the valuable work that is done every day, all year round.
I would like to do more. So, my personal pledge over the coming year is to organise our team, friends and family to gather goods to donate to those young people that Bardsley Youth Project supports.
If in any way we can make one person’s life a little easier and more comfortable then we owe it to them and ourselves to do that.
