There are a lot of historical buildings in Warwickshire, but not many have a courtroom where you can get to sit in the docks whilst drinking a G&T…!
Our client wanted to hold their Winter Ball in a location that had some history and atmosphere, rather than a generic hotel function room, so using our local knowledge we came up with the ideal place for them…
A Crown Courts in the area had closed it’s doors to criminals and was available to hire as a quirky and unusual function space. With underground medieval dungeons and high domed ceilings this certainly fitted their ‘atmospheric’ brief!
As the event was black tie, we wanted every aspect of it to feel opulent, so guests arrived and went up the sweeping staircases to the drinks reception upstairs. We had decked out the Judges House room with fairy lights and candles, and coupled with the harpist playing background music, the room felt really magical.
After drinks everybody returned downstairs for the dinner in the Great Hall. With its chandeliers and stone columns it definitely gave the WOW factor when the double doors were opened. We had named all 15 tables after 15 different monarchs, so everybody got a little history lesson whilst looking for their seat!
The courtroom next door was candlelit so people could sit in there for a drink; everybody loved taking turns to sit in the judges chair and ordering their colleagues to ‘silence’!
The evening finished with a disco complete with glow sticks and cheesy music; the perfect end to any black tie do!
